Newt in Somerset
The Newt In Somerset - Yarlington Mill, Cyder, 6.6%
Bold, grippy and satisfyingly fresh, our medium-sweet Yarlington Mill is the epitome of a traditional West Country cyder - rich but finishing on dry tannins.
Made with careful cold-fermentation, our cyder-makers are able to balance the variety's distinct characteristics, bringing out toffee apple and tarte tatin notes over a rounded palate with warm baked apple flavours and nice food-friendly tannins. It makes a fine match for roast pork or braised beef brisket.
The world-famous Yarlington Mill apple was first discovered in the late 1800s growing wild in Yarlington village, just a stone's throw from The Newt. We have a great affection for this local apple variety, so much so that we've planted a swathe of Yarlington trees in our orchard, securing a supply of this special bittersweet apple long into the future.
Our cider is spelt with a ‘y’ to preserve the old West Country tradition, originating from a time when it was used to indicate superior strength and quality.
